EVERYDAY EXCHANGE TRAVELS: KEY LARGO ADULTS-ONLY GETAWAY
Recently my husband and I were starting to feel too much like Rhianna with all this work, work, work, work, work. We were visiting my parents in West Palm during spring training and decided to seize the opportunity to take a little getaway sans toddler to the keys. We chose to stay at Playa Largo Resort & Spa in Key Largo. It was the perfect resort for a quick couples getaway.

It's a fairly new property, so top to bottom the resort is pristine and clean. The decor is upscale, modern beachy and the rooms are immaculate. Need extra towels? Want to make reservations at one of the three on-site restaurants? Each room comes with an iPad to request anything and everything you could want or need. We made reservations for dinner, ordered more in-room coffee (illy brand), requested additional towels and made appointments at the Ocean Spa for massages the next morning. We arrived a touch early and had to wait for our room to be ready. While we were waiting we wandered over to Sol by the Sea, the resort's open-air restaurant, plopped down at the bar overlooking the crystal blue water and grabbed a drink. I'm not a fan of waiting, but in this case I could've waited all afternoon.

A few great amenities: zero-entry pool (something parents traveling with young kiddos can appreciate), a sunset celebration every night where they come around with a cart full of specialty drinks, an on-site water sports rental facility where you can rent stand-up paddleboards & kayaks or make a reservation for an all day snorkeling adventure or a sunset sail, fire pits all around the resort with cozy seating for cuddling up after dinner, and a beautiful workout facility facing the pool. I also appreciated the appropriately placed hammocks they had on the beach for anyone who wanted to take a lazy swing.

I love getting a few new vacation outfits every time we head out of town, and this includes sleepwear. Going on vacation is always a great excuse to get a new set of jammies and this little number did not disappoint.
I'm going to tell you the little extra I was MOST impressed by: reusable acrylic water bottles in your room that you can REFILL at filtered water stations all around the resort. If you think about it, this is no-brainer that NO 4 or 5 star beach resort I've been to has EVER had. We drink a TON of water, and more than that when we are out in the sun all day. Imagine not having to lug 2-3 water bottles with you to the pool or beach, or not having to purchase more water every time you get thirsty. This was my favorite amenity by far. So simple yet SO smart and convenient (and eco-friendly).
The only downside would be that the restaurants don't offer a TON of variety on their menus...between the three there is a lot of seafood (to be expected at a beach resort) and not much else. For a meat & potatoes girl like me, I was looking for more land animals or at least a great vegetarian option on the menu.
