EVERYDAY EXCHANGE TRAVELS: BEST BEAUTY ITEMS FOR TRAVELING
When I travel I try to save the space (and weight) of my luggage for my shoes, clothes and makeup. That being said, I don't like to sacrifice on quality and sometimes the bins at Target just don't cut it with the product selection. Thankfully, a lot of my favorite brands come in travel sizes and for those that don't I have found some GREAT alternatives. When it comes down to it, I just want to have good quality products in smaller sizes.
Number one on my list: a great dry shampoo. I've been using Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo for a little under a year now and I will never go back to anything else. It smells great and actually gives your hair a ton of body as well as taking away the greasy-haven't-washed-my-hair-in-three-days look.
Second on my list: A great hairspray that holds without being stiff. I LOVE this Nexxus Comb Thru Volume Finishing Mist but I have yet to find a travel size (insert sad face). Good news though: Alterna Caviar Working Hair Spray and Aveda Air Control Hair Spray are excellent alternatives. I would even buy these in full size if I didn't love my Nexxus so much.
Third: An effective yet gentle facial cleanser. I use Philosophy Purity Made Simple most days and they also have a travel size. It smells heavenly (like you just stepped out of the spa) and it's super gentle. Works great in taking off makeup - I even use it to clean my makeup brushes.
Lastly, I need a shave cream, shampoo & conditioner. I have to say that I bounce around a lot when it comes to shampoos & conditioners because my hair has changed a lot since having a baby (hormones, amiright mommas??) but recently I've been using OGX Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco when I travel. Leaves my hair soft, smells great and is easy to find at Target or a drug store.
I realize how lame I am about to sound when I say this but: my most favorite travel find on this last trip (we went to The Keys & West Palm) was this shaving cream. I am so happy that someone finally realized that I don't want to carry around a mini-coca-cola sized can of shaving cream in my toiletry bag! On top of that, it's a brand I really love. Imagine that - travel sized shaving cream in a tube! Genius.
