EVERYDAY: ON MY NIGHTSTAND
The older I get, the more I realize how important it is to have a nightly bedtime beauty routine. Gone are the days of coming home and crashing full-faced makeup into the pillow and waking up looking like I meant to have that tousled hair and smoky eye at 10am. I forget what sleeping until 10am feels like. Is it heaven? Do angels sing to you? Do you wake up with tears in your eyes because your slumber was so beautiful?
I'm not a huge fan of wearing socks at night but I've decided it's for the good of the cause...and that cause is me NOT having crack-y feet. Remember "lotion socks?" I do, mostly because I got them in my stocking for a good 3 years in a row. Probably not the worlds greatest idea (or fashion statement), but they were on the right track. Just say no to cracks and slather on a good bit of aquaphor, slip on some socks and hit the sack.
I go back and forth between Kiehls Lip Balm #1 and Supergoop Acai Fusion Lip Balm on my lips. They are both fabulous and work especially well in the winter time when you need a little extra moisture on your lips. As a quick side note to new and new(ish) moms - let that nipple cream work double duty on your lips. I used Medela Tender Care when I was nursing and started using it on my lips at night (and still do on occasion). It made my lips so soft and smooth.
My hands seem to be aging at a rapid pace, especially now that I have a toddler. I'm constantly washing dishes, wiping faces (and bottoms) and cleaning up dirt/mud/spilled milk/food you name it. They also get pretty roughed up when I'm working out at my bootcamp or my Crossfit gym. I've been using Aveda Hand Relief for years. It feels luxurious and silky on your hands and smells like Aveda. If you know that smell you know what I'm talking about. If you don't, it smells like the spa. If you don't know what a spa smells like-you need to go get a massage. Now. You deserve it.
